Eat, Play, Love

Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE animal lover! Especially my doggies! (and my cat and flamingos, and llamas, and...and...and...).  So when I saw this Technique Junkies stamp, I knew it was made for me! It's simple and it's adorable and I love it!

The name of the stamp is, appropriately, Eat, Play, Love.  I paired it with the Paw Prints Background Stamp and one of my favorite color combinations (Black, White & Red).

The background image was stamped on white card stock using Memento Ink (Love Letter). The piece was trimmed down and mounted with a red mat, then attached to a black A2 card base.  The focal image was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and trimmed down. I used the MISTI when stamping both stamps so I could repeat the stamping to get a crisp solid image. The piece was then mounted with a red mat and attached to the card with foam tape.

I used some red Stickles to fill in the heart for a little bit of WOW! And I absolutely love how it all turned out.

Wonderful Washi

You see it everywhere. You hear about it all the time in the crafting industry. You own rolls and rolls (and rolls) of this stuff. I know I do. And since I have been in a background making mood lately, I grabbed several rolls and went to town on this card.

It's a busy pink background so it needed a fairly clean and simple focal point. And, naturally, I grabbed my favorite pink bird.

The background, while it looks a little daunting, is so simple to create. I started with a diagonal strip of washi, and continued for about 6-7 rows. Then I switched the angle and added strips in a different direction. I folded over all the ends to the back so it had a clean edge and attached it to my card base.

The image from Technique Junkies (Flamingo - SD659) was stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed with a copper embossing powder onto a pink piece of cardstock. I used a darker pink mat, then added foam tape to the back. Before attaching to the card, I added a few white feathers for interest, then placed the focal piece on top, securing the feathers to the base. A few dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off the card.

Are your creative wheels turning now? Are you digging through your vast collection of washi? I'm already selecting some coordinating washi for another background.

By the way...did you know you can save 10% any time you order from Technique Junkies simply by entering the code TJ10Ro at checkout? And "stay tuned"! July 1st brings a new batch of stamps being released with some great inspiration from the design team. Hope to see you soon!

Stamps Used:
- Beach More
- Sudsy Stuff - not a new release
TJ Products Used:
- Kaisercraft Gel Pens
Other Products Used:  Memento Ink (Tuxedo Black, Bahama Blue); Distress Oxide Ink (Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio); Colored Pencils; Steel Die; Basics*

After stamping the sudsy background, I used a die to cut an oval which was the perfect size for the image stamp. I stamped Beach More on the card base and colored in the image with colored pencils and Glitter Gel Pen accents. The die cut panel was attached using foam tape to give the card a little dimension and make the image a focal point.

After stamping the two images, I lightly drew a pencil rectangle around them, leaving it slightly smaller than the extended pieces. I then trimmed out the piece leaving a few pieces outside of the cut rectangle. It was colored with colored pencils and accented with Gel Pens and Glitter Gloss. A few jewels were added, then it was attached to a pink panel and adhered to the kraft card base.

Other Products Used: Versamark Ink, Black Embossing Powder, Watercolor Paints

This was a fun card to do...and a great guy card! There are four different sentiments that come with the image, so there is a lot of versatility. I began by stamping the image and sentiment with Versamark and then heat embossed with black embossing powder. I created the remainder of the scene using watercolor paints. Once dry, I trimmed the panel down and mounted it on a black card base. I love how striking that sunset is with the black elements!

I absolutely LOVE navy blue and gold for nautical cards! This would be another great guy card. And it was easy to do...what more could you want! I began by stamping the mosaic on navy cardstock with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. The panel was then trimmed down. On a strip of gold vellum, I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink and clear embossed it. Using a Gel Pen, I overlined the sentiment. The vellum panel was then folded around the panel and attached on the back so no glue spots would show. I added a few glitter jewels, adding glue under the larger ones for added tacking down of the vellum panel. The panel was then attached to a kraft card base.

I love the image in this card. The fish are plain so you can create any type of fish your mind imagines! How fun is that? I stamped the image with Versamark and heat embossed in a dark green. Using Tombow markers, I colored in the image, then added a little sparkle with glitter gel pens. I stamped the sentiment with Memento Ink (Nautical Blue). I gave the entire panel a shimmer using Shimmering Bliss Topper spray, and added some clear bubbles and splashes with Jewel Drops (Clear). I added a dark blue panel and attached it to a pink card base. I like how the card base complements the pink in the coral and the blue makes the fish even more striking.
